What our 2015 Alumni say

The LGSC program delivers all that it promises and so much more. It truly is life changing, grateful for the opportunities that are open to me now. Alison Read, 2015 Alumni

This Program has provided me with a rich opportunity to ‘drink from the well’, alongside wise, thoughtful and courageous leaders (speakers and participants alike) and to leave replenished, inspired by the challenges ahead and equipped for all that comes next. Emma Mahony, 2015 Alumni

A 2015 Particpants Reflection

The structure of delivery in the LGSC Program is designed to show participants facets of life in the Great South Coast that may be somewhat hidden, or not well known.  In 2015, we heard from people who have fled war torn countries, people who run multinational corporations, people who have experienced homelessness, and people who govern our state. The program shows us the wicked problems we face, and gives us the raw materials we need to fix them.

2015 Program Graduation

The 2015 Program Graduation was celebrated on 9 December 2015 at the Victoria Hotel, Port Fairy, Function Room.

Over 100 guests were in attendance to celebrate the individual and collective achievements of our 14 graduates. Guests include the graduate’s family and friends, our many scholarship/program partners and our principle partners from the State Government, Telstra and the Great South Coast Group. As well as numerous business, industry and community representatives.

The fabulously funny Robyn Moore was our special guest speaker for the event http://www.robynmoore.com.au/ Robyn has us laughing and crying with wonderful stories about her volunteer work with The Starlight Foundation and alongside her Binky Bill character and her extensive voiceover career.

On behalf of his fellow graduates, program participant Billy Greenham said ‘The LGSC program has opened our eyes to the incredible community work being done within our region. We have learned valuable leadership lessons and now understand the need to work together taking a regional approach to opportunities and challenges’.

As part of the LGSC Program participants are required to complete projects that have a direct community impact. To date LGSC community projects and participant volunteerism has contributed a Return on Investment to our region of $390,000.

‘Via our community projects we had a chance to give back, and demonstrate what can be achieved by goodwill and effort’ said Billy

Alison Read summed up her Program experience by saying ‘there are numerous professional and personal benefits to the LGSC Program, we would encourage you to consider applying, or recommending an aspiring community leader you know’.
