Victorian Parliament Visit
Another full day in Melbourne starting with a guided tour of Parliament House and advisor briefing prior to attending an entertaining Question Time in the Legislative Assembly. Our thanks to The Nationals for hosting our Question Time debrief session a very enlightening discussion about the work load across the sitting week.
The highlight of the day was our networking lunch with our local members. Wonderful to meet with our politicians and discuss their motivations, passions and political drivers.
Rounding off our experience was an open and frank discussion with James Purcell MP and Senior Advisor Tanya Waterson about priorities for South West Victoria.
Thanks to everyone at Parliament House for hosting us and to the Education unit for their support.
Day 1 Melbourne Trip
It has been a busy day in Melbourne for the 2015 Participants! Starting the day with a tour of the brand new AICD members lounge at 367 Collins Street (level 26). If you are an AICD member take advantage of this amazing facility next time you are in town. You and one guest can access the lounge, a great place to relax and catch up on work between meetings.
Wonderful to have Sadhana Smiles, 2013 Telstra Business Women of the Year with us again. Fantastic discussion about the importance of personal branding and how to refine your own.
We had an inspiring meeting with Marcus Crook from HoMie who told us about the establishment of the social enterprise project in Melbourne Central. Best way to find HoMie is to go up the escalators on the corner of La Trobe and Swanston Street and you will fin the shop on the right. These guys are supporting the homeless in Melbourne by providing a shopping experience where each person can choose five pieces of clothing.
Enlightening Chatham House Rule session with Rob Milton who taught both HRH Prince Harry and HRH Prince William at the world renowned ‘Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
To finish off a big day we had a wonderful production stage and back of house tour at the Melbourne Theatre Company chatting with Virginia Lovett (Executive Director MTC) about the importance of arts in thriving communities. What an inspirational female leader.
